SPRING AND SUMMER STAFF OPPORTUNITIES

 

FOUR MONTH POSITIONS SALARIED POSITIONS:

  • PROGRAM ASSISTANT May 1 - August 28: in all areas of the camp program.

  • Head Lifeguard May 1 - August 28: Skills instructor & Lifeguard for Outdoor Education (May-June). Direct all waterfront programs (July-August).

  • ASSISTANT COOK May 1 - August 28: Assist in food preparation and direction of kitchen helpers under the direction of the Food Services Manager and Head Cook.

  • INTEGRATION COORDINATOR May 1 - August 28: Assist the Office Manager in accepting special needs campers (involves visitation as well as office work) in spring. Assist counselors in integrating special needs campers into the regular summer camp program.

  • MAINTENANCE CREW LEADER May 1 - August 28: Supervise a maintenance crew for custodial duties, painting and other small projects.

 

TWO MONTH SPRING AND SUMMER CAMP POSITIONS:

  • SPRING STAFF May 1 - June 30: Assignments include Program Specialist, Kitchen Staff, or Maintenance Staff. Staff are rotated through these positions based on interests and training. Spring Staff may apply for a summer staff position for July and August to make up a four month position.

  • SENIOR COUNSELOR / INSTRUCTOR July 1 - August 28: Counseling a cabin of 8 campers together with a Junior Counselor or Co-counselor. Instructor or assistant instructor in a skill area.

  • ONE MALE AND ONE FEMALE HEAD COUNSELOR July 1 - August 28

  • JUNIOR COUNSELOR / INSTRUCTOR July 1 - August 28: Assist Senior counselor in counseling a cabin of 8 campers. Instructor or assistant instructor in a skill area.

  • LIFEGUARD July 1 - August 28: Assist Waterfront Director in all waterfront programs and Life guarding during swim times.

  • KITCHEN STAFF July 1 - August 28: Help in food preparation and service, supervise after meal clean up.

  • MAINTENANCE STAFF July 1 - August 28: Assist Maintenance Director and assistant in jobs as assigned.

  • BOATMAN/WOMAN July 1 - August 28: Drive the ski boat, instruct water skiing, fuel and maintain boats.

  • MOUNTAIN BIKE INSTRUCTOR July 1 - August 28: Teach mountain biking skill and maintain bikes and other program equipment as required.

  • CAMP NURSE July 1 - August 28: Responsible for the general health and safety of the staff and campers. One week positions are available.

  • VIDEOGRAHER July 1 - August 28: Take video during each session and create a video for the parents program.  Take digital stills and upload to web.

FULL TIME STAFF

 

 

Kim Coursey - Executive Director:

Kim and Rowena have three children and two grandchildren. Over the past thirty-one years, Kim has served in several positions at camp and has been the Executive Director for fourteen years. He has a BA in Biblical Studies from Providence College. He has served on the board of Christian Camping International Canada for ten years.

Ben Dueck - Camp Director:

Ben and Kendra have two daughters. Ben is a graduate of Steinbach Bible College and also served on the school's board of directors. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Leadership from Trinity Western. He served as summer staff for two summers, was a youth pastor for five years and has been in his current positions since May, 2007.

Trevor Wilson - Maintenance Manager:

Trevor and Terra Lee have two daughters and are expecting their third child. Trevor served on staff for several summers before joining the full time staff team as Assistant Program Manager. After a brief absence, he returned to be our Assistant Manitenance Manager and has been in his current role since January of 2007.

Matt Dirks - Food Services Manager:

Matt served as summer staff at Red Rock. Prior to taking on his present responsibilities in February 2009, Matt worked in the food services industry. His experience includes cooking and Sous-Chef in restaraunts in Steinbach and Winnipeg. Matt graduated from Mennonite Brethren collegiate Institute and studied at Providence College.

Evie Harder - Office Manager:

Evie started her service at Red Rock in 2006 as Assistant Food Services Manager and has been the Office Manager for two years. She has a business degree from Red River Community College and is the treasurer and a Sunday school teacher at the church she attends. Evie attended Caperwray Bible School in Austria volunteered at an orphanage in Uganda.

Jeremy Klassen - Assistant Program Manager:

Jeremy has studied at Red River College, William and Catherine Boothh College and the University of Winnipeg. He served as summer staff and year round resource staff at Camp Arnes and also worked at the Selkirk YFC before coming to Red Rock in 2008 to be the Male Head Counselor. He has been the Assistant Program Manager since the fall of 2008.

Assistant Maintenance Manager - Eric Coursey

Eric and Krystal have two children. Eric has several years of experience in construction. He attneded Providence College for three years. Besides serving as summer staff, Eric was the Assistant Food Services Manager and the Food services Manager. Before returning to his current position, he was a youth pastor and church council member.

Assistant Food Services Manager:

We are looking for an Assistant Food Services Manager with training or experience in food services, however, we are willing to train the right person. Agreement with the camp’s mission and statement of faith is necessary. Housing, partial board, salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits are provided. Camp Dog - Tiki

Tiki joined our staff team in May, 2010. She is a six year old Border Collie. Tiki loves people and is very gentle with children. She also loves to play fetch.
